Devin's Book
NEW HORIZONS
Selected poems from 50 years

Devin Alaric Mikles, MD, FACP is the recently retired CEO and Medical Director of Choices Integrative Healthcare of Sedona in Arizona. He has been a student of multiple systems of healing since 1969. His primary vision and goal through the last 25 years has been to assist in the development of new paradigms of healing for our planet. He has been writing poetry, singing and playing music since he was in grade school and has published his poems in print journals and online.
Devin Mikles is a practical, mystical poet interested in transformation and a commitment to peace. His poems reflect a life lived in search of seeing something more, feeling something more, opening outward beyond the limitations of ego to the something more of the universe that calls us toward greater expansion and acceptance. For inspiration and guidance, he draws on the world of animals, canyons, petroglyphs, native traditions, the wind, the oceans, the stars, the journey of the soul in an earthly frame. When you read this book, you can’t help but look outward, upward and beyond.
J.P. White, Poet, Novelist, Screenwriter
Mikles' book of poems is a fulsome collection of ancient and esoteric wisdom, bursts of enlightenment, and heartfelt anguish over humanity's seeming inability to rise above our most primitive instincts and illusions of separation from one another. A remarkable record of a lifetime of spiritual contemplation.
JD Townsend, Author of The Assassin’s Dream
“Mikles’ words, his thoughts and feelings provide the reader with rare insights into the heart and mind of an esoteric romantic. The golden thread running through all of these poems links them into traditional romantic ideals, setting aside reason and rationality as barriers to deep subjective experience. Everywhere, words appear in surprising ways, causing, as all good poetry does, the reader to pause, to reframe, to look more closely at the wellset gem. Freeing the patterns of vocabulary to express a new insight, to light a dark space, to lead a reader toward revelation. Savour these poems. They are a gift to us all.”

Souls in the Sea, Dolphins, Whales and Human Destiny
